SOA Practice

The Typical definition of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) revolves around the implementation of an architecture which makes use of reusable non-redundant services allowing for the rapid integration of data and business processes.
At JDM Systems Consultants we believe that SOA is much more than that – it is a change in the psychology of IT.  Rather than working in compartmentalized groups on siloed functions performing project specific tasks we strive towards business process and IT system continuity.  By getting IT closely involved and immersed in the enterprise business process it becomes self-evident what enterprise IT approach best fits to support a business’s unique needs.
Most IT organizations are not fully utilizing their resources.  The organization is structured to promote single-project driven teams that rarely consider redundancy of development work or reuse of services from external projects.  IT has been focused on standards and technologies and converting the end results of business decisions into applications rather than being the vehicle of change in a rapidly shifting enterprise business environment.

Often SOA implementations have lacked the skilled resources to properly implement the new enterprise architecture.  Many teams fail to focus on the short and long-term results by spending a great deal of time selecting technology first and trying to maintain tactical costs.
JDM Systems Consultants offer experienced qualified architects, project managers, analysts, developers, and testers who are prepared to work with your business to offer analysis and advice on the current technological landscape and the best approach to move forward towards SOA implementation and governance. We are prepared to construct requirements, write specifications, implement the improvements, facilitate proper governance, as well as provide training and education on each of the various SOA activities.
The benefits of moving an IT organization towards SOA include cost savings through consistent deployment by using smaller teams comprised of high-end individuals, in turn reducing long term application support costs and allowing for a quicker IT reaction to business priorities.
